Simple Picnic in NYC

Last Saturday, Jeremy (he’s back!!) and I went to our favorite park (the park where we had our first kiss! I know, I know - cheesy to admit, but its true) on the west side highway and had ourselves a little picnic…

First stop was Murray’s Cheese on Bleeker Street, (duh, what’s a picnic without Murray’s Cheese) where we bought a couple of different types of cheese, fig jam, and a baguette. Then we grabbed a half bottle of white wine at a wine shop and off to the park we went!

The cool breeze and water views from this park make for a “doesn’t feel like you’re in NYC” experience. All you really need is something to sit on, something to nibble on, and something to sip on (and maybe a book, some music, and good company) and you will have a very lovely low maintenance picnic. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. *sigh*.

Tip: Something super easy I’ve been known to throw in my picnic basket is homemade chicken salad (like this one). All you need to go with are crackers or just plastic forks! It is always a big hit and the perfect light snack.
